WATSON TOWNSHIP. Earliest pioneers arrived in 1836.   At first the township was part of Otsego, was set off (with townships of Dorr and Hopkins) as township of Watson in 1842; Dorr was set off in 1847, and Hopkins in 1852, leaving Watson with its present boundaries. It is named for an early resident, who surveyed he earliest road about 1837.
