IS THIS THE GRAVESTONE OF GENEALOGIST?

In a small country cemetery, called Woodside, on Eighth Street, or Miller Road, north of Plainwell, Allegan County, Michigan, there is a most unusual marker.

In the center of the Munroe Family Plot is a tall slender grey tombstone. On the east side is inscribed "Coat of Arms of the Munroe's of Fowlis, Scotland 1075". Beneath this is a raised shield, with an eagle head in the center, and below the shield the motto - "Fear God". At the bottom is a round crest which is engraved with a thistle-like plant, and these words: "Emigrated to America in - 1652, settled in Lexington, Mass."

On the south side is this inscription: "Joshua Munroe, 27 years a teacher in Mass., M. D., & Va. A firm union man. In 1371 made tour of Europe. Born in Spencer, Mass., Mar. 15, 1818, died in Plainwell, Sept. 19, 1882. He lived and died in the same firm faith of the Great Redeemer".

On the north side is: "Anne, wife of Joshua Munroe, born Washington Co., M. D., July 22, 1819, died at Plainwell, April 21, 1902
