Byron Brooks was the son of Benjamin C born abt 1824 New York state & Esther (Wager) Brooks (born 1 Sep 1831- Yates Co, NY,) Benjamin C Brooks served in the Civil War. He was a Private In Company A Michigan Hall's Sharp Shooter Battalion from 1864 to 1865
Evidently Benjamin died before 1870 and in 1872 we see Esther owning property in section 32 of Newberg township. Esther remarried an Albert Jones, by 1880 census and is living with her son Bryon and his brother George and his wife Lavonia in Newburg Township.Albert Jones Property was in Section 33 of Newberg Township. Albert Jones died December 1882 at age 52 years and was buried in Poe Cemetery.
Bryon had one more sibling and her name was Mary who married a Emery E Stanard in 1878. Emery would died in 1887. And Mary died in 1944.
Mother, Esther Wager Brooks Jones died in 30 Aug 1916.
Marinda's husband Bryon was a farmer by trade. He died 1924 and is buried in Poe Cemetery, this county.

Marinda Brooks nee Hatfield - Born May 1851 in La Porte Co., IN.
She was the daughter of Isaak G & Maria (Morley) Hatfield

Hatfield's - Isaac was born in Ohio and was the son of Samuel Hatfield out of Virginia. Isaac is a Blacksmith by trade and in the 1850 census he and Maria are living next door to Isaac's father. Samuel's first marriage was to Celia Zane in abt 1818 in Ohio. When Celia died in 1824 he would later we Nancy Collins in Logan Co., OH in 1826. Celia was the mother of Isaac and this would be the family that Marinda descended from.

Marinda appears in two different households in Constantine Township, St. Joseph Co., MI in the 1860 census. This is not normal but happened sometimes when two different households claim the same person. She appears with her stepfather, Jacob Kuch (Name misspelled on census as Turck) and mother Maria in . And the other household that claims her is her maternal Grandmother, Elizabeth Moyer age 61 and head of household is Jacob L. Moyer 23, and Mary Moyer age 21.

More on Marinda Hatfield Wachterhauser mother
Maria Moyer. After the death of Isaac Hatfield, Maria remarried a Jacob Koch from Germany and they are living in Constantine Twp, St. Joseph Co., MI in the 1870 census. Present are their children: John 16, Sarah 14 and Lydia age 1. They are living next door to Joseph Wachterhauser.

By 1880 they are in Norton Co., KS and now their son John, now living in a household of his own is married to a Mary Dennis and they have a child , Charles.
I Think Charles, must have died. as by the time John and Mary with their other children, move to Cass County, Michigan, Charles in not with them.

I don't know if Jacob and Maria came back to Michigan, but John and Mary did and they had 5 more children. They can be found in the 1900 census in Cass County, Michigan.
