Richard Dewey history England to Cass County

Richard Dewey came from England to America before the revolutionary War. He settled in Maryland , Married- a German woman. First name Catherine (Katy) Last name not recorded. She lived to the age of one hundred four years.

They were the parents of 10 children:: We have no record of nine of the children We know that Richard and his son Henry Dewey owned farms near Richmond, Indiana .
Henry and Nancy Dewey came to Michigan territory in the spring of 1831- to Pokagon Twp, Cass Co.Mi.-- Later moved to Silver Creek Twp and lived on the lake that was named for him Dewey Lake,, He was a farmer.. He built the first house in Silver Creek twp.Henry and Nancy are both buried at Dewey Cemetery Dillman rd. This History was compiled by Nancy Mima Dewey----Great- Granddaughter of Henry and Nancy- Nancy Mima Dewey- Born-Sept.3, 1866 Died- July 30. 1950 Buried- Dewey Cemetery ,, Dillman Rd.
