The Best family originally came from Cornwall, UK and emigrated to many parts of the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

The Grand Parents of Richard Charles Best  were Abraham Best and Ann Bennetts who arrived in Huron County, Ontario, Canada in 1848. Descendants of this family spread South into the USA as far down as Florida, Kentucky, Tennessee, Missoure etc. I am still in contact with descendants in London, Ontario, Canada.

Richard was living in Dowagiac, Cass County at time of death & aged 49yrs. As a child, he lived in Silvercreek Township. His parents moved to Indiana & then to Richland Twn, Scott County, Missouri in 1890.

Married in Cass County, Book D, page 96 of 1894. (Pat Grimm) Lived East Division St and died at home from pneumonia. He was a Lodgeman & took an active part in civic & social affairs. Buried in Catholic Cemetery by Father O'Neill.

Not known what happened to Wife: Katherine Bick (Katie) whom he married: 11 Jul 1894 in: Dowagiac, Cass County, Michigan, USA. her age: 24 Other: Book D Page 96 in: Entry #1387 Cass Cnty Mar Bk1 up to 1921 Ceremony: She was born: May 1870 in: Dowagiac, Cass County, Michigan, USA. Baptized: in: Died: Unkn in: Unkn place Buried: in: Other: in: Ref: Occupation: Father: Mother: Parents: Benedict Bick & Phoebe Koof. (Info from Patrica Grimm, Arizona, USA) Living in Dowagiac, Cass County, Michigan at time of her marriage aged 22 yrs. Found in the 1900 & 1910 Census of Cass County, Michigan, but not in the 1930 Census after Richard's death. Unable to locate, probably re-married. Parents born in Germany.
