Roger's Cemetery

Milton Township

Cass County, Michigan

From the Files of Rose McClure, Amelia Castle and Nancy Corwin
Note:  There is no trace of this cemetery anymore.   The records here came from the old records the

DAR did in the 1940's. - Roger's Cemetery -  It was located in the southwest corner of the northwest 1/4 of section 1, Milton Township on Runkle Road.

The burials that were here were those of the Alexander Rodgers, who came to Pokagon twp in 1828 and settled in this section. His holdings totaled some 700 acres which was located Southwest 1/4 of section 30.

Per the family records of Rose McClure, the original owner, where this cemetery is located, was Alexander Rodgers. Rose further tells us " Alexander and Margaret (Culton) Rodgers were my great-great-great grandparents and I have much information on them. Even though in some of the records in Cass County the name is spelled Rogers, the correct spelling from Scotland forward is Rodgers with the "D" and their tombstones plainly show this spelling.
Also, Samantha J. Rodgers was the daughter of "S" and M Rodgers....Samuel and Margaret (Burke) Rodgers, not Alexander and Margaret."

The farm was later owned by Harvey - DREW. Mr Drew and two of his children and hired man were buried in this private cemetery, which was up on a knoll. At the present time it is just a wilderness and the markers have been used to make stepping stones.

Mrs Drew went to California after his death. She was a sister of Dr. Levi Aldrich, Henry, Nathan and Newton Aldrich.

Burials were per old DAR reading (Note the misspelling of Rodgers)
