Boyne Citizen - October 30, 1906
The sad news of the death of Mrs Byron Lyke, at Lockwood hospital, Petoskey,
reached here Monday, death occurring at 3 o'clock Monday morning. Mrs Lyke
had been a sufferer for some time, and last week she was taken to the hospital
at Petoskey, in hopes that an operation would restore her to health, but
although she rallied nicely from the operation, the shock proved too great and
Sunday she began to fail rapidly. Mrs Lyke leaves a husband and two daughters,
besides a large circle of friends, to mourn her loss. The funeral will be
held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Methodist church.
Boyne Citizen - November 2, 1906
The funeral of Mrs Byron Lyke was held at the Methodist church, Wednesdsay
afternoon. The Firemen attended in a body, and the Eastern Star, of which
order Mrs Lyke was a member, were out in full force to pay their well-beloved
sister. Rev Grozenbaugh spoke words of comfort to the ones who are left to
morn, and the coffin was completely covered with floral offerings.
Boyne Citizen - November 5, 1906
To the dear friends of ours, tried and true, who have so lovingly and
unsparingly helped us in our hour of deepest sorrow, we desire, as far as
words can, to give expression to our heart-felt appreciation. To each and all
our gratitude goes out.
