Boyne Citizen - October 31, 1929

Aged Lady Passes On

Theodosta Agnes Clark was born in Kent Co, Michigan Mar 14, 1850 and departed this life Saturday, Oct 26, 1929 aged 79 years, 7 mos, and 12 days. She was united in marriage on Feb 3, 1870 to William Wallace Johnson. In 1873 they settled in Forest Home Township, Antrim Co while the county was yet wilderness.
Here their family was born and reared with exception of the first child, Lillian May, who was born in Kent Co, and who preceded her mother in death thirty-nine years. Her husband died in 1900 and there are left to keep her memory four children, William Wallace Johnson and Clark Johnson who reside on the old homestead near Bellaire, Rollo Johnson of Central Lake, and Mrs Warren Hastings of Boyne City at whose home Mrs Johnson spent her last days.
There are left six grandchildren, Walter Johnson of Flint, Michigan, Mrs Geo Abbott of Lansing Mich, Osmond Hasting of Detroit, Mich, George Hastings of Flint, Mich, Mrs George Coplas of Boyne City, Michigan and Grant Hastings of Detroit, Mich and nine great-grandchildren. Mrs Johnson was of a retiring nature, preferring to do her work quietly and lovingly. She has been devoted to her family and will be remembered as a good neighbor and friend helping wherever there was need.


Boyne Citizen - October 31, 1929

PEARL KIGHTLINGER PALERMO

Pearl Kightlinger Palermo was born at Boyne Falls, July 15, 1908 where she made her home until 1920 when she moved to Boyne City. She entered school here in the grades and and continued until the close of the Sophomore year.
In 1926, she went to Detroit and married Samuel Palermo.
She died Oct 17, 1929 in Detroit very suddenly. Mr and Mrs Kightlinger were called to Detroit and accompanied the remains home for burial in Maple Lawn cemetery.
Pearl had the faculty of making friends and had a large group both her and in Detroit.


Boyne Citizen - November 14, 1929

PASSES AWAY

Mrs Lillie Poole, wife of Charles H Poole, died at the Petoskey hospital Nov 8, from a complication of ailments. Funeral was held at the family home on Front street Sunday afternoon, Nov 10, Rev W H Helrigel of this city officiating. Interment was made in Maple Lawn.
Mrs Poole was born near Ironton in 1875, united in marriage with Charles H Poole in Petoskey in 1895. Three daughters were born to this union, Myra (Mrs Walter McClure) Ruth (Mrs L Coblentz) and Virginia. There are two sisters Mrs Charles Steele of Flint and Mrs L M Dart of Lansing all of whom survive the deceased.
During her lifetime the deceased was an active worker in the lodges of the Royal Neighbors and the Rebekah Lodge.

Boyne Citizen - November 14, 1929

Veteran Soldier Passes

Isaac Dibert, aged 81 years passed away at his home on Terrace street Sunday, Nov 10. The deceased was born at Moorestown Pennsylvania. He enlisted in Co D 142 Pennsylvania Infantry Aug 1st 1862 and served in the capacity as drummer until Aug 5, 1864. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Kuhns in 1926. He is survived by his widow. Funeral services were held at the home Nov 12 Rev E P Linnell preached the funeral sermon. Interment was made in Maple Lawn.

Aged Lady Gone to Rest

Elizabeth Austin aged eighty years passed away at the home of her son Fred Austin on Jefferson street Monday, Nov 14. The remains were taken to the old home Harrisville, N Y, Nov 12.
