COMPTON/ JACKSON/ NOWLAND:
Peter D (son of Runyan L and Eliza (KETCHUM) COMPTON) and Sarah Ann (daughter of Joseph and Ann (ANTHONY) JACKSON)COMPTON, were living in Charlevoix County, by 1880. Children born to them were George Edmund (married Mary Debry NOWLAND (daughter of Michael Dallas NOWLAND and Sarah Ann DOWNS) on 17 Dec 1881 in Marion Twp), Lorenzo E, Adeline Anna, Mary Alberta, Lillian Elizabeth (married J Albert NOBLE in 1916), Irene May, and Emma J (married Herbert BEAUDOIN in 1903). All of these subjects, are buried in the Brookside Cemetary, in Charlevoix. I recently was given the Family Bible, of Mary (NOWLAND) COMPTON, and pictures of her as a child. Also in the same box, was a book (appears to be a school History book), written in German, published in 1824. Would love to hear from fellow researchers, of any/all of these surnames. I have NO idea, how this book, fits into one of these family's!

COMPTON/JACKSON/JAXON/DOWNS/DEWITT/NOWLAND
COMPTON/JACKSON, Peter and Sarah "Ann" (JACKSON) COMPTON were living in Charlevoix by 1880. Their son George Edmund, married Mary Debry NOWLAND (daughter of Michael Dallas and Sarah Ann (DOWNS) NOWLAND) on 17 Dec 1881, in Marion Twp.I recently was given the Bible of Mary (NOWLAND) COMPTON, some pictures of her, when she was a young child, and a book that was in the box with these items, that is written in German. It was published before 1828, and appears to be, one of a set of history books. I would very much like to be in contact with anyone, researching any of these familles, that might be able to help me figure out who this book might have belonged to. The DEWITT name, ties in to the DOWNS family, so this book has to have belonged to one of these family's. I am more then willing to share copy's of these item's, with fellow researchers, or county researchers, who are willing to help try and solve this 'MYSTERY'.

I'm looking for info about my grandfather, William Carlton BOYLE, and his ancestors. My grandfather was born April 6, 1898 in prob Warren, OH. His father, William W. BOYLE, was born Jan, 1867 on Beaver Island, Charlevoix Co., MI. He married Helen LINEHAN (born Mar 1873 in NY died about 1903). William W. BOYLE died about 1939, somewhere in MI. William Carlton BOYLE's sister was "Cressie" BOYLE (born about 1900 and married DUBELL(SKI)).
An unconfirmed story states that Helen (LINEHAN) BOYLE was pregnant and during a winter tried to cross the lake from Beaver Island to the mainland. The horse(s) pulling the cart/sled fell through the ice and Helen died. It is not clear whether she died then or days later.
Any info concerning the BOYLE or LINEHAN lines would be appreciated.

The family arrived as adults in the early 1870s in Charlevoix County from Ontario. In 1879 a homestead was taken out at Birch Point on the north arm of Walloon Lake. There were eight children in the family: Joseph R. (ten children), Mary Jane (married Alex MILNE, no issue), Sarah Ann (married George A. WARDROP, nine children), Elizabeth Martha (married Samuel H. SANBORN, four children), Charles M. (eight children), Katherine (married James P. FLASHMAN, seven children), and Andrew E. (twelve children).
