U.S.-CANADIAN IMMIGRATION & MIGRATION PAGE

Prior to 1908, people were able to move freely in either direction across the international boundary between the United States and Canada. No record exists of these border crossings. The following sites may be useful to those researching migrating ancestors on both sides of the border:

Chippewa County Migrations
~ Site dedicated to tracking the migration of families from one point to another. Includes all 50 U.S. atates as well as a number of foreign countries.

Ellis Island/Port of New York Records

Immigration Records at the National Archives (NARA)

Immigrant Ships Transcribers Guild
