NOTES: Louisa remained in Van Buren Co. for some years after Nathanieldied, moving to Ann Arbor before 1900. Her son Willie
was blind and son Robert was partially blind. They, along with theirsister Maud, were still living with Louisa as of 1900. In 1910
Robert was living with his 82-year-old Aunt Betsy E. BRIGGS at Columbus,Columbia Co., WI. Betsy was the widow of Louisa’s brother David. Davidand Betsy had been married 50 years by 1900 and never had children of theirown. Garrett WEIRS, husband of Bertha KEYES, was born in Holland and hadimmigrated to the USA in 1875. Throughout their married life he workedeither as general labor, a shoemaker, or a worker in a shoe factory. Theyinitially lived in the city of Kalamazoo but by 1910 Bertha was livingwith her daughter Anna and son-in-law Duncan McCallum at Comstock, KalamazooCo. Garrett boarded in Kalamazoo in the 1910s and ‘20s, and in 1920 Berthawas working as a waitress in a cafe. By 1930 the widower Garrett was livingin Comstock at the Kalamazoo County Poor Farm. Bertha and Garrett had sevenchildren.
