Carr family notes:

Not much is known about Sarah Ann Carr, born in Canada about 1843, other than the fact that her younger sister, Lucy M. Carr (b. 5/10 Jan1854) married Sylvanus Lydenne Meacham, the brother of George W. Meacham,on 19 June 1871 in Arlington, Van Buren County, MI.  Lucy lists herparents as Jason and Sabra Carr and both list their parentage in censusrecords as "Canada - English".  Lucy M. Carr Meacham died of typhoidon 7 Oct 1890 in Bloomingdale, MI.

Sarah and Lucy also had a sister named Lydia Carr who married William Bigelow. A letter from Lucy several years before she died to hersister Lydia is written below:

"Bloomingdale April 25th 1887
Dear sister Lydia  I will try andwrite you a few lines as well as I can having here a week ago tomorrowthere was a pair of twin babies came here to claim my love and ease - aboy and a girl but the boy staid with us only about 10 minutes we did allwe could to save him but it did no good he was a nice fat boy all thatsee him said he would weigh 8 pounds the girl weighed three and half sheis doing finely  they looked just alike only the boy was the biggesttheir hair is jet black Bertha is better pleased than I expected she criedlike everything over the boy.  I am well as could be expected consideringhow sick I have been all winter and spring I don't set up any yet. Cattie and Clara does the work we hire the washing done how I wish youand Bill would come out next spring.  did you know that will had movedto Scoot Lake he lives next house to Johnsons he is going to work for HankLeedy a year I hardly know what to write I wish I could see you  Iam going to try and come there as soon as I get able tell Eunice to comeand soon as she can find a nice name and send my girl I will send you themeasure of her arms legs hands and feet her fist is about the size of agood big hickory.  Well I will close by saying either write or comesoon tell Eunice to come out you may expect me as soon as I am able tocome.  Write to sister Lydia.  The girls all send a kiss."

A reference in the letter from Lucy to Lydia about 'Will who livednext to the Johnsons' may be one William Carr (possibly a brother) whois listed as a boarder  in the home of John and Betsy Meacham in the1870 Census, Lawrence Twp., Van Buren County, MI.

There is also a William Carr, age 20 years, born in MI, working ona farm belonging to Issiah Chapman of NY. This was found in the 1870 Census,Van Buren County, Arlington Twp.

The "Eunice" mentioned in the letter is undoubtedly Eunice Meacham, the daughter of George W. Meacham who married Samuel Bigelow (23 Jan 1853in Arlington).  At the time of the marriage, Eunice was 16 years oldand Samuel was 25.  Witnesses at the marriage were James Gunter andSarah B. Hoppin of Arlington. Samuel and Eunice Meacham Bigelow are listedin the 1860 Census in Arlington Township, Van Buren County, MI. Interestingly,a boarder in the Bigelow household was one Lyons Peck, age 44, from Canada.(Peck was the family name of Wealthy Peck Page, the mother of Harriet PageLafferty, the mother of Frances Lafferty Meacham, the wife of Ransom DavidMeacham, the son of George W. Meacham).  Lydia and Eunice were probablymarried to Bigelow brothers.
