The Rural School Newsletter:
A History and Recollections From Ionia County, Michigan

The purpose of the newsletter is to preserve the history of the one room school houses that once flourished in Ionia County.  Pam Swiler, the editor, gathers information from all kinds of sources, i.e. school records, teacher records, personal stories and photos, as well as documenting the current status of buildings which are no longer in use as a school house, but may be used as a home, business or storage space.  All information received will become part of the resources available through the Ionia County Genealogical Society. Back issues are available by request.  The first newsletter was introduced September, 2007.
