G. J. Toumart New Building on Historic Site

(Article in the Grandville Ave. Record, May 17, 1912, Page 2) -

A new, handsome, brick block was erected at 507-509 Grandville Avenue last season.

In the upper left hand corner is the old land mark building torn down to make room for this structure.

This old historical land mark dates back some 37 years when it was built by Dan Lynch and used for a grocery. Later on the Tusch Bros. purchased the building and overhauled it for a brewery.

It was used by them for many years when the consolidation of the brewing interests took place and the same diverted to the Grand Rapids Brewing Company. It was during August last that G. J. Toumart, in business on the corner south; purchased this property and decided to build thereon. The wisdom of his investment is shown by a good tenant in the north store, in J. TenHarkle, the grocers, and tenants in all the living rooms above. He has a prospective tenant for the south store.
