Wilder De Ayr Foster   Birth: Jan. 8, 1819, Orange County, New York Death: Sep. 20, 1873, Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan Burial: Fulton Street Cemetery, Grand Rapids, MI US Congressman. He served in the United States House of Representatives from December 1871 until his death in 1873, as a representative from the state of Michigan. He was elected to fill the vacant House seat following the resignation of U.S. Senator-elect Thomas White Ferry. He was a member of the Michigan State Senate in 1855 and 1856 and served as Mayor of Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1854. He was re-elected to the office of mayor in 1865 and 1866. He also served as Grand Rapid's city treasurer and as a member of the board of aldermen.
