Lynne Rae Perkins

Award-Winning Author of Children’s books, Lynne Rae Perkins, won the 2006 Newbery Medal. It is comparable to the Oscar in the movie industry.

She lives with her husband, Bill, who makes twig furniture, and their three children in Sutton’s Bay, Leelanau County, Michigan, a small, picturesque village on the west shore of Grand Traverse Bay.

She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1956. She graduated from Pennsylvania State University. She married Bill in Leelanau County in 1988.
