William Van Regenmorter,
Michigan State Representative and Michigan State Senator

William Van Regenmorter was born 29 January 1939 in Jamestown, Michigan,  the son of William and Catherine Van Regenmorter.. He married Cheryl DeVries and they have four children. They live in Jenison, Michigan.

Bill attended Calvin College. Later, he owned a furniture store, and was a former analyst for Dun and Bradstreet before entering into politics.

He has been a state Republican lawmaker from Georgetown Township for 24 years. His greatest accomplishments in legislature has been protecting victims of crime. He introduced the Crime Victim’s Amendment and a Constitutional Amendment concerning the rights of victims of crimes. His fellow lawmakers recognized the mark that he has made on the state and nationally.

He has been the state representative for his home area from 1982-1990, and Michigan State Senator from 1990 – 2006 when he decided not to run for office again.

He has been on many committees: Chair of the judiciary committee, on the policy committee, regulatory reform, senior health, security and retirement committees. He was assistant majority floor leader in the state senate. He also chaired the Republican Caucus, 1984-1990.
