Chris Whitten, Golfer

Chris Whitten was born 29 September, 1979 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He is the son of Buddy Whitten, the club professional at Blythefield Country Club in Rockford. Buddy played the PGA Senior Tour in 1997 with Chris serving as his caddy.

Chris, a native of Rockford, MI, has been involved in golf all of his life.

He graduated from Notre Dame where he played on the golf team for four years. In his final year he led the Irish at the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational having the best round of hi career, an even-par 72.

After graduating from Notre Dame in 2003, he became the first full-time assistant golf coach, aiding the school in gaining the first Big East Conference championship since 1997. Whitten, 24 years old, oversees recruiting and is completely involved in the golf program. He helped in the formation of the Irish Golf School in 2004.

He was an excellent scholar in college, graduating with degrees in computer applications and English and was named to the 2002 National Golf All-Scholar Team.

Chris married Amy White, a 2002 Notre Dame graduate who is in her third-year of medical school at the University of Michigan. They reside in Mishawaka, Indiana.
