SIXTEEN NURSES TO GET DIPLOMAS MONDAY NIGHT

Commencement exercises for the 1917 class of the Butterworth hospital school of nursing will be held next Monday evening at 8 o'clock in the St Cecilia auditorium followed by a reception from 9 to 10 (?) o'clock. The sixteen young women who will be graduated are: Nora Eleanor Howe, Kattie (or Hattie) Ploeg, Margie C. Weisgerber, Mary Elaine McCormick, Viola Scharlach (?), Vibcea (?) Anna Nelson, Alice E Malana (?), Lillian Hilda Olsen, Harriet Elizabeth Davis, Anna Hertel, Alice Cornelia Joldersma, Alice Evelyn Smith, Jessie Erma Holcomb, Florence T. Sellman, Berthal Elma Jones, and Janet Holwerda. Miss Holwerda is of the class of 1916.

NOTE:  Tom Porritt's grandmother, Jesse Holcomb, is located in the front row on the right side.  She was born in 1894, graduated from Butterworth in 1917 and married James C. Porritt in 1918.)
