Dives From Boat Into Murray Lake,

Lad is Drowned
(Grand Rapids Herald, August 6, 1917)

Lowell, Aug. 5 – Clinton Bloss, 16 years old, who has been residing for nearly three years at the home of Clyde Condon, near Mosley, was drowned Sunday afternoon in Murray lake, Grattan township.

Young Bloss was swimming in the lake with several companions. He dived from a boat, rose to the surface of the water and then sank. His body was recovered several hours later by Deputy Sheriff Harry Haysmer. Other officers who dragged the lake were Deputies Matzen, Griswold, Ogren and Ward. Justice W. J. Lester took possession of the body.

Bloss was a charge of the state public school at Coldwater. Several years ago his mother died and his father, who now resided in Grand Rapids, found it impossible to take care of his children and Condon adopted the boy.
