Charles F. DeShane

Charles F. DeShane was born 10 December 1918 in Waukesha, Wisconsin. He died 5 November 2006 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. By his wishes, he has been cremated.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; children, Charles (Carol) DeShane, Sandra (James) Samsel, Robert (Shawn) DeShane, Thomas (Sally) Donaldson; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; brother, Floyd (Lois) DeShane; sisters, Evelyn VandeKopple, Alice (D. O.) Stuck and several nieces and nephews.

Chuck was preceded in death by his son, Gary Donaldson, and daughter, Pamela Siebold.

He attended Creston High School and the University of Alabama. Chuck played for the Detroit Lions from 1945 to 1949. He retired from Paine Webber as a Security Broker.

He was a life member of Grand River Masonic Lodge, the Consister, 33 Mason, the Saladin Shrine, The Saladin Shrine Chanters and Jesters.

He was inducted into the Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame in 1976. Chuck enjoyed all sports and coaching football.

A celebration of life gathering at the Reyers North Valley Chapel on Thursday evening, 6 to 9 PM.
