Rosamond Hinsdill Obituary
Grand Rapids Eagle - 9 August 1858)

In this city on the 4th inst., Rosamond, wife of William P. Hinsdill.
Naturally possessed of a kind and obliging disposition, the deceased had endeared herself to all who had the pleasure of her acquaintance. Her sickness, which was long and distressing, she bore with great patience and resignation. She manifested much interest in the subject of religion, but had never made a public profession previous to her sickness. A few weeks before her death she expressed a strong desire to unite with the church and leave, she said "her name enrolled among the people of god." She was accordingly examined and admitted a member of the First Congregational Church of this city. Those who were present, will not soon forget the deep solemnity of that occasion. After offering up her infant son, Willie, one year old, in baptism and partaking of the sacrament, she said, "Now my work is done, and I am ready to go." The child who had been sick several weeks, followed his mother in two days to the spirit world. Both mother and child were taken to Plymouth, her former place of residence for interment.
The bereaved husband and father is indeed deeply afflicted. This house is truly "left unto him desolate". A large circle of friend's sincerely sympathize with him in his severe bereavement.
