Head of Manufacturing Firm, Prominent Clubwoman, Succumbs Here

Miss Nora M. Husted, 63, president and general manager of the Sempray Jovenay Co. the last 12 years and prominent as a clubwoman, died Tuesday afternoon at her home 343 Fourth st., N. W., after a long illness.
Miss Husted was born in Lowell on 24 June 1871, but had been a resident of Grand Rapids since 1885. She had been active many years in the business which was founded in 1888 by her mother, Mrs. J. C. Carr; her sister, Miss Elizabeth J. Husted, and herself. Mrs. Carr died in 1920.
The original company was known as the Marietta Stanley Co., but the name was changed about 15 years ago to the Sempray Jovenay Co.
In addition to her business activities, Miss Husted was active in many local organizations. She was a member of St. Mary's church, the Zonta club, Women's Advertising club, Acorn Literary club, St. Mary's PTA and Catholic Daughters of America. In all of these she held important posts at various times.
Besides her sister, Elizabeth, she leaves two brothers, Dr. John W. Husted of Detroit and Otto Husted of Grand Rapids; three nephews Paul Husted of Chicago and Walter and Earl Husted of this city, and a niece Mrs. Henry Zoellner of Denver, Colorado.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m., Friday in St. Mary's church.
