Old Holland Resident Dies – A. Schipper

Mr. A. Schipper died at the home of his son, Jacob Schipper, 910 Caulfield avenue, S. W., last Thursday morning, as the result of a stroke of apoplexy. Mr. Schipper was eighty-one years old.

He came to this country from the Netherlands forty-four years ago. Eighteen of these years were spent in Zeeland, Michigan, the remaining twenty-six in Grand Rapids, where he lived for the most part at 50 Woodlawn avenue, S. E. Mr. Schipper was widower, his wife having died fourteen years ago, also from a stroke of apoplexy. He is survived by five sons and three daughters: Mrs. P. Elenbaas, Mrs. C. Roosenraad and John Schipper of Zeeland; Mrs. H. Brummel of Gitchell; Rev. Henry Schipper of Chicago, and Jacob, Edward and Lambert Schipper of Grand Rapids. There are also thirty-one grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Monday last from 910 Caulfield avenue.
