Gee’s Hardware

Acknowledgement: This History of Lowell has been made possible largely through the great generosity of the business men and institutions mentioned in the following pages. Grateful acknowledgement is extended.

Early in November of 1914 M. W. Gee purchased the controlling interest in the Scott Hardware Co. which was organized April 19, 1906, in Robert E. Springett’s office. The organized stockholders of the Scott Hardware Co. were George M. Winegar, James A. Scott, Karl Althaus, Adam T. Behler, Phillip S. Krum, H. S. Young. The Scott Hardware Co. for several years M. W. Gee purchased the shares of the remaining stockholders and continued the business at the present time.

This organization has always aimed to operate a first-class hardware store, dealing in merchandise of quality and giving prompt and courteous service.

Having made a thorough study of the numerous items and specifications in hardware and allied lines they are in a position to help their patrons solve the many problems that arise in their daily requirements.

M. W. Gee states that this business has always enjoyed the confidence of the Lowell and surrounding country and he wishes to take this opportunity to say that in his opinion there is no community in Michigan where the commercial support and general credit standing of the people is any better than here.

"Lowell is a successful town and a good place to live. The people of this community are neighbors in the fullest sense and have always shown a willingness to "stand by" in times of general distress and individual sorrow. May the always prosper.
