Welcome, Old Friends and New Friends and Prospective Friends To This the One Hundredth Anniversary of the Very Start of Rockford

The American Legion and all other fraternal societies of Rockford as well as the churches, the school, the industrial plants, and the business men and all and sundry of the citizens extend to you the glad hand of fellowship in celebrating this event. We wish to show you the changes wrought in this town over the period of the past century, and we sincerely hope that you will enjoy this demonstration of progress. Make yourselves "at home" during your stay with us. Do not hesitate to call on us for any favors that are within our power to grant. Rockford has always had the reputation of being a hospitable town and we are anxious to uphold this tradition.

We like to consider ourselves young enough to carry on as they did in the old pioneer days, when every visitor was considered, a guest, and yet old enough to extend to friends and chance acquaintances the very latest evidences of our good will and hospitality. Take notice that this is not a financial drive with which we hope to line our purses, and exploit your resources. We want to welcome you and entertain you for the sake of Auld Lang Syne. We are proud of our city, and cherish a very tender feeling for "the old home town" and we want you to depart, (when you do) with the kindest of memories of Rockford and its centenary celebration.

Respectfully yours, The Executive Committee.
