Was Original Daughter of the American Revolution


Mrs. Minerva Bovay, one of the very few original daughters of the American Revolution in the whole country, died yesterday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Beckwith, at Chippewa Lake. The funeral will be held tomorrow.

Mrs. Bovay was 84 years old. Her father was Frances Blake, and died when Minerva was four years old. Her father wa over 60 years when she was born. He served with the New Hampshire troops in 1776, and after the war emigrated to Prince Edward Island, where Minerva was born. Mrs. Bovay was the mther of 13 children, eight of whom are living.

She came to Mecosta County in 1891. Besides her daughter she also has two sons living in the county.
