Morris & Crane
1884

One of the most substantial mercantile establishments in the city of Big Rapids is the dry goods and clothing house of Morris and Crane, known throughout this locality as the "Big Busy Store." The business was established by E.C. Morris in the fall of 1884, and in the spring of 1891 A. Amos Crane, who had been connected with the besiness from from its start, became interested and the present name of the firm was assumed. E.C. Morris, the senior member, died July 13, 1903, and his loss was greatly felt, not only in this business but in others, as he wqs connected very closely in many enterprises in this city, and was always working for the welfare and advancement of Big Rapids. Mr. Morris' interest continues in this business, being held by his family, the entire management, however, devolving on Mr. Crane. The business has been one of advancement from its conception. By right dealing and a faithful attention in business it hasgrown to one of fine proportions. It woukld be a credit to any city, both as regards the well-arrangedmore building (being one of the largest and best equipped in the north) and the class of merchandise carried.
