Enlisted as a Corporal, September 12, 1861, at Grand Rapids for 3 years at age 23. Promoted Sergeant April 20, 1863. Re-enlisted January 5, 1864. Promoted Quartermaster Sergeant January 5, 1864. Mustered out at Macon, Georgia, on August 17, 1865. He died in 1909 and is buried in the Lebanon, Missouri, Cemetery.
