Jacob Amon

Company D, 10th Michigan Infantry

Born in Switzerland, Jacob immigrated to Canada and then to Lexington, Michigan, where he enlisted on November 28, 1861. He received an eye injury at Stevenson, Alabama, on September 11, 1863, and was hospitalized for three months. Jacob reenlisted on February 6, 1864, at Rossville, Georgia, remaining with the regiment until war's end. After the war he was granted a pension of $8.00 per month. He died in Speaker Twp., Michigan in 1891, almost totally blind from his wartime injury.

Burial is in the Speaker Cemetery.
