William Gilby

Company F, 17th Michigan Infantry

From Detroit, William enlisted as a Fifer on June 18, 1862 at Detroit for 3 years of service at the age of 16. He was wounded in action at the battle of Antietam, Maryland, on September 17, 1862. He mustered out of the service on June 3, 1863, at Delaney House, District of Columbia.  He was mustered out possibly because he was underage at the time of his enlistment.

His postwar address was Port Huron, Michigan.
