Joseph enlisted on October 10, 1861 at Kellogsville, Michigan, for three years service at age 18. He took the muster oath on October 29, 1861. He served as an Artificer. Having served his term of enlistment he was discharged Atlanta, Georgia, on October 31, 1864.He was the son of Joseph G. Warnica, also of Company E.
