From Cass County, Sidney enlisted at the age of 22 for 3 years of service and took the muster oath on August 24, 1861. He served his entire term of service in that capacity and was mustered out at the expiration of his enlistment on September 30, 1864, at Sturgis, Michigan. His name is spelled as Sidney F. Mullin in the records.
