From Butler, Orrin enlisted for 3 years service on August 18, 1862, at the age of 25. After actively campaigning for his term of service he was transferred to the Veteran Reserve Corps on December 14, 1864. He was discharged at Washington, DC, from the 238th Company, 1st Battalion of the Veteran Reserve Corp. After the war he resided at Quincy, MI.
