From Reading, Michigan, Andrew enlisted on November 14, 1862, for 3 years service at age 18. He took the Muster Oath on March 31, 1863. He served the rest of the war with the 1st Sharpshooters and was discharged at Delaney House, District of Columbia, on July 28, 1865.His postwar address was Butler, Michigan.
