John Shear enlisted in Company F, 3rd Michigan Infantry May 13, 1861, at Grand Rapids, Michigan, for 3 years at age 29. He took the muster oath on June 10, 1861. He was dropped from the rolls of the 3rd for unspecified reasons on December 29, 1862.Ancestor of Marcus S. McLemore
