George W. Simonson

Company B, 16th Michigan Infantry

From Montacalm County, George, enlisted at Ionia, Michigan, for 3 years of service as a Corporal at the age of 21 on August 5, 1861. He re-enlisted at Rappahanock Station, Virginia, on December 21, 1864. Was wounded in action on May 8, 1864, at Laurel Hill, Virginia, and discharged from Harper Hospital at Detroit, Michigan, on June 20, 1865. His post war residence was Kalkaska, Michigan, and he is buried there in Greenwood Cemetery.
