Clifford L. Umlor

Daily News, Greenville, MI - Monday, November 1, 1999
Greenville - Clifford L. UMLOR, 72, of Greenville, passed away Friday, Oct 29, 1999, at Metropolitan Hospital. He was born Feb. 23, 1927, in Harrisburg, the son of Lloyd H. and Thelma M. ISENHART UMLOR. He was a disabled veteran from the U.S. Army, serving with the C Troop 97th Signal Corps. He was stationed in Bamberg, Germany, where he met his wife, the former Hedy SCHRODER, and they were married for 53 years. He also was a member of St. Margaret's Catholic Church, Harvard, Ray I. Booth Post 101 American Legion of Greenville, the U.S. Constabulary Association, and carried mail for many years. He is survived by his wife, Hedy; one daughter, Carol Ann UMLOR of Greenville; one daughter-in-law, Cheryle KING of Irons; one granddaughter, Sandra and Donald ALOFS of Byron Center; his brother and sister-in-law, Lynn and Maryann UMLOR; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Donna and Robert MILLER, Doris and Lenis KLEIN, Dorothy PICCARD, Beverly and Harold MAYCROFT; three aunts, Lillian SCHOENBRON, Lucille and Ruth ISENHART; and many cousins, nephews and nieces, both here and in Germany. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his son, Robert J. UMLOR. According to his wishes, he requested to be cremated. Catholic memorial Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Margaret's Catholic Church, Harvard, with Father Fred Brucker officiating. Full military committal will be in St. Margaret's Catholic Cemetery by the American Legion Post 101 of Greenville. Members of the family will meet with friends and relatives Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Arrangements are by Marshall Funeral Home, Greenville.

Patricia L. Updike

Daily News, Greenville, MI - Monday, March 15, 1999
Belding - Patricia L. UPDIKE, 74, Belding, passed away Saturday, March 13, 1999, at Kelsey Memorial Hospital Long Term Care. She was born Feb. 24, 1925, in Belding, to Wallace and Ida NUMMER UPDIKE. She graduated from Belding High School as salutatorian with the class of 1944. She retired from Independent Bank in 1979 after 25 years as a teller. She was born with a serious heart defect and struggled her entire life. She had three open heart surgeries, cancer, a stroke and blindness, but always maintained a cheerful outlook. She made her home with her sister, Marilyn, for the past 20 years, confined to a wheelchair. She is survived by two sisters, two brothers and one sister-in-law, Marilyn JOHNSON, Gretchen FINKBEINER, Roger UPDIKE, all of Belding, William and Betty UPDIKE of Greenville; several caring nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; special friends, Elsie CHRISTENSEN, Maxine THOMAS, Janet HOSKINS, Virginia VAN NORTWICK and Gayla HAINES. Memorial services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Belding, with Pastor Kenneth Harger officiating. Interment will be in Otisco Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Belding Museum or Ionia County Commission on Aging.
