ZERBA, HAROLD LEE

Daily News, Greenville, MI - Wednesday, June 23, 1999
Carson City - Harold Lee ZERBA, 68, of Carson City, died Monday, June 21, 1999, at Carson City Hospital. He was born Sept. 24, 1930, in New Haven Township, Gratiot County, the son of William A. and Hazel May ROCKAFELLOW ZERBA. He married Martha Ann HENDRICK on Aug. 8, 1951, in Angola, Ind. He graduated from Carson City High School in 1950, then served in the U.S. Navy. He worked at the Riverside Correctional Facility, in Ionia, for 32 1/2 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the State Employees Retirement Association and the Rural Electric Association. He is survived by his wife, Martha Ann ZERBA of Carson City; two daughters and sons-in-law, Terri Lee and Terry KRULEK, Debra Jean and Brian WEBBER, all of Crystal; seven grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Don and Melva ZERBA of Carson City. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Roseanna K. in 1979 and Kim Ann in 1961. Funeral services are Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home, Carson City, with the Rev. Ray Grienke officiating. Interment will be in New Haven Center Cemetery, Sumner. Visitation is today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the "Wishes of the Family".

ZEIGLER, S. ELWOOD

Belding - S. Elwood ZEIGLER, 93, 3478 E. M-55, Cadillac, formerly of Belding, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999, at Zeigler Foster Care Home, Cadillac. He was born Nov. 29, 1905, in Knox, N.D., the son of Samuel D. and Clara B. STEARNS ZEIGLER. Mr. ZEIGLER was an aluminum press operator at Extruded Metals, Belding, and a member of First Congregational Church, Belding. He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther, in 1993; and one son, Robert ZEIGLER, in 1988. He is survived by two grandsons and their wives, Don and Annette ZEIGLER, Dan and Raeann ZEIGLER, all of Belding; six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral and committal services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Huffman Funeral Home, Belding, with the Rev. Dick Woodward officiating. Interment will be in Otisco Cemetery, Belding. Visitation will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to First Congregational Church Organ Fund.

EARL ZIMMERMAN

Earl Zimmerman Passes Saturday - Earl Zimmerman, 60, of Lebanon township, Clinton County, passed away Saturday afternoon, December 11, at the Carson City hospital where he had been confined for the past 18 days. He had been in ill health for eight months.

He was an employee of the Farm Bureau Services at Lansing.

Mr. Zimmerman was born June 13, 1905 at Ionia. On December 30, 1923, he married Nellie Hockstra at Stanton. They had lived at their farm home four and a half miles south of Carson City since 1935.

Besides his widow, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Grace Clark of Lansing; four sons, Robert of Sheridan, Austin of Tekonsha, James and Larry at home; six grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Laurence Witzel of Ionia and Mrs. Mary Hale of Detroit, and a brother, Howard, of Albuquerque, N.M.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, December 14, at 2:00 from the Burns Funeral Home, with Rev. Albert Rill, pastor of the Hubbardston Methodist church, officiating. Interment was in the Carson City cemetery.

Deaths - EARL ZIMMERMAN - Funeral service for Earl Zimmerman, 60, former resident of Ionia who died Saturday at Carson City hospital following a long illness, was Tuesday at Carson City. The Rev. Albert Rill officiated and burial was at Carson City cemetery.

Bearers were Roy Sandborn, Evart LaBarr, Harold Proctor, Claude Witter, Carleton Wilson and Floyd Beechler.

He is survived by his wife, Nellie; a daughter, Mrs Grace Ann Clark of Lansing; four sons, Robert Zimmerman of Sheridan, Austin of Tekonsha, James of Lansing and Larry at home; also a brother in Albuquerque, N.M.; and two sisters, Mrs Mary Hale of Detroit and Mrs Lawrence Witzel of Ionia.

ZIMMERMAN, RUDY

Portland - Rudy ZIMMERMAN, 77, of Muir, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away on Saturday, July 3, 1999. Mr. ZIMMERMAN was born in Kreuzburg, Germany, on June 1, 1922, the son of John and Whilimenia RAULF ZIMMERMAN. He was a veteran of World War II serving as a staff sergeant and interpreter in the United States Army. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Pewamo, and Lyons Muir VFW Post 4646. He was a leader of the One in All Club in Muir, donating his time to many community projects. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Elizabeth FEDAWA and Anna SPITZLEY; and brother, Nick ZIMMERMAN. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Katherine; children, Joseph ZIMMERMAN of Woodard Lake, Deborah and Russ REIST of Charlotte, James and Lauri ZIMMERMAN of Stanton; grandchildren, Manee and Rex REIST, Chris, Nick and Cory ZIMMERMAN; sister and brother-in-law, Katherine and Joseph KOENIGSKNECHT of Fowler; sister-in-law, Helen ZIMMERMAN of Portland; brother-in-law, Carl SPITZLEY of Portland; and several nieces and nephews. The Mass of Chrisitian burial was celebrated by Rev. Charlon O. Mason at 11 a.m. today at St. Joesph Catholic Church, Pewamo, with rite of committal following in Muir Cemetery, Muir. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Rudy ZIMMERMAN. Arrangements were handled by the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 1301 E. Grand River Ave., Portland.
