I am looking for information about the BRYANT family Wooster C. BRYANT (b.1836) and Juliette (or Julia b.1834) BRYANT lived in the Fremont area from sometime prior to 1880. They may have lived at a place called Wooster Hill. They also may have run a general store in Fremont. Their children were Adolphus, William(my g-grandfather), Mabel and Gertrude. Very interested in any news articles, photos, references to the General Store they ran, and the location of Wooster Hill. When exactly did they move to Fremont (sometime between 1873-1878? a daughter Bertha was born 1873 in Bear Lake MI and died 1878 in Fremont). Any references to Wooster's father, George H. W. BRYANT (b.1799). He was living (1870-71) with Wooster's family in Benton Harbor. George's whereabouts and date of death are unknown. Son William (b.1863) married about 1886 to Nellie UNKNOWN (child born 1887: Lois). Nellie died during childbirth . . .and in the mid-1890's he married Eva UNKNOWN (child born Donald). Who where these women? William left the Fremont area in the late 1890's married my g-grandmother (Ada Belle Meredith) and lived in northern Michigan. At some point he returned to the Fremont area, probably about 1911. He married 4th, Gertrude BODE who survived him. She was supposedly connected to the GERBER family.

My husbands Gr-grandfather, William Wessel/Wessels was a lumberman in Newago Co. in late 1890's. He was found in 1894 census, apparently died ca. 1896 according to family info. No record has been found of his death even from state records. His widow was a housekeeper in Big Rapids in 1900. There were descendents of a son (Steven) living in that area. Hopefully, some are there now.

Searching for info on Nellie Della KNOWLES, daughter of Tom Knowles. Tom was an undertaker and possibly a store owner in Walkerville, MI. Nellie was probably born in Walkerville. She married Ariel GLEASON (son of Edwin and Roxanna Giddings Gleason and Grandson of Archibald and Clarissa Bell Gleaon) who was originally from Ohio. Ariel came to Newaygo Co. in 1865. Ariel and Nellie's son Archie Edward Gleason was born in 1895 in Volney, MI. I believe that Nellie had a half brother named Charles. I would like birth and death dates for Nellie, Tom and Ariel. Also looking for Nellie's birth mother with her dates. News articles and references to Tom KNOWLES' store or any of the above mentioned people...would be wonderful. Also researching Leona (or Leana) WAKEFIELD, b. Feb 1853 in New York. She married Charles NEWVILLE/NEVILLE/NEWELL/NUVILLE (b. 17 MAR 1848 NY; d. 07 MAR 1904 in Newaygo Co). Leona gave birth to at least 7 children, the youngest of whom (Mary b.12 Apr 1897) was born at Klondike. The couple first lived near Ravenna and later in Cole Creek a while. I'm looking for Leona's date and place of death; any news articles or other literature mentioning her or her husband and children; names of her parents.
