I am presently researching the KEMPF family, starting with Margarita KEMPF (b. 1801-1809 in Germany) and her two sons, Christoph (b. Oct-07-1832 in Germany, or Frederic (b. Jul-1845 in Germany). I have collected a fair amount of material in connection with the two sons, especially Christoph, and their families. Ongoing is my pursuit of additional data regarding any people connected with the KEMPFS of Newaygo County. I would be interested in corresponding, or sharing what I have with other KEMPF researchers or interested parties.

POLITE, David b. approx 1817. The 1850 Michigan Census notes his place of birth as the Atlantic Ocean, the 1870 Census notes his birthplace as Canada. He was married to Janett POLITE, b. approx. 1818 in Ireland (maiden name unknown). Janett died in 1891 and is buried in Bailey Michigan. They had several children, John, Joseph, Mary Jane, Emery and Emily. The family moved around somewhat, Emery was born in either Coldwater or Bethel around 1858 or 1859. I also track the family at Hillsdale County in 1850 and Muskegon County (Casnovia Twnshp) in 1870. I have been unable to find out Janett's maiden name and where in Ireland she came from. I would also like to get information as to where in Canada David came from. I have been unable to find a newspaper resource for Casnovia Township for this time period in which Janett died. I would appreciate any and all information to help fill in the missing pieces. Thanks.

Searching for any descendents of Albert and Mary Jane (POLITE) MORRISON. Albert and Mary Jane were married in Newaygo county around 1874 and lived their entire life in Ashland Township. Albert died in 1916 and Mary Jane died in 1927 and are buried in Shippy Cemetery. Mary Jane was the third child born to David and Janett POLITE of Bailey (Muskegon county). As I understand Albert and Mary Jane had a son who ran a restuarant in the Newaygo county area called Johnny's Restaurant. I am curious if any of the family members have information on David and Janett's family background, pictures or interesting stories. I have a picture that was taken of David on a hay wagon with a couple of oxen that I would be willing to share. My grandmother said it was taken in the late 1800's. I know that David sometimes noted his place of birth as the "Atlantic Ocean", Canada and New York. Janett was born in Ireland.
