Seated on the south shore of Lake Superior is Ontonagon County with over 1,300 square miles of forests, lakes, streams and shoreline.  This county has a distinguished history of logging and mining, and is the site of the first telephone system in Michigan.  The oldest standing log home village in the United States is located at Old Victoria, near the village of Rockland.  The North Country Trail bisects Ontonagon County on its route to the Lewis & Clark Trail in North Dakota.  In this county of over 100 waterfalls, 150 inches of snowfall annually is an average.

:: Volunteer! :: Assistance Needed :: Help Needed Here, Too

If you would like to volunteer as a county coordinator for Michigan, just email me, State Coordinator, Colleen Pustola.

Should a county you're interested in not be available for adoption right now, we have a waiting list she can add your name to.

Many Ontonagon researchers are long distance from the county records.  Do you live locally?  Do you have time to help others?  Would you be willing to do local research or look ups?  Please email me.

Do you have records you'd like to see placed on this website?  Please email me with your material attached.

Preferred formats are htm and html, however transcriptions in txt or doc are also acceptable. Images should be in jpg or gif format.  Please do not compress your images as I will take care of that.
