Seeking information concerning my great uncle, Nathaniel LeroyElkins (known as Roy), who died 08 Oct 1918 (b. 05 Sep 1891)while in the army serving in Washington D.C. We assume he died duringthe flu epidemic. Tragically, his infant son died (of the flu aswell?) while his wife, Vera, was traveling to Evart, Osceola Co., MI,where his funeral was to take place, having been visiting at hisparents' home in Eaton, Preble Co., OH. So Roy and his son wereburied in a joint service in Evart. All of this is according to anewspaper clipping that we found in an old family Bible. We don'tknow where Roy and his son are buried in Evart, nor do we know hisson's name, or his wife, Vera's, maiden name. Roy and Eva wereprobably married only a short time before his death. We assume thatthere must have been an Osceola county connection in his wife'sfamily. Otherwise we know of no reason why they would have calledEvart their home. We also don't know whether Vera remarried. Anyinformation would be greatly appreciated.

I am looking for information about Philip H. ORTH and his wife,Fanny(nee KURTZ) and their family who lived in Sears,Michigan, around the late 1800's and early 1900's. I believe that Philip was ahoney producer. They came to Michigan from Wallace Township, PerthCounty, Ontario, Canada. They had nine children, four girls and fiveboys but we do not know the names of any of these children. PhilipOrth was born in Germany around 1846-47 and Fanny was born around1849, also in Germany. Philip's parents were Johann and EvaMargaretha (Hoferbt) and Fanny's parents were Gerhardt Kurtz andMaria "Francisca" (Meinsinger). It appears that several of Fanny'sbrothers and sisters also came to Michigan so we suspect that therewas some connection with the Kurtz family somewhere in Michigan. Iwould like to contact anyone who has any information about thisfamily or who might know of any of their descendants. Any help wouldbe greatly appreciated.

I am looking for information about Philip H. ORTH and hiswife, Fanny (nee KURTZ) and their family who lived in Sears,Michigan, around the late 1800's and early 1900's. I believe thatPhilip was a honey producer. They came to Michigan from WallaceTownship, Perth County, Ontario, Canada. They had nine children, fourgirls and five boys but we do not know the names of any of thesechildren. Philip Orth was born in Germany around 1846-47 and Fannywas born around 1849, also in Germany. Philip's parents were Johannand Eva Margaretha (Hoferbt) and Fanny's parents were Gerhardt Kurtzand Maria "Francisca" (Meinsinger). It appears that several ofFanny's brothers and sisters also came to Michigan so we suspect thatthere was some connection with the Kurtz family somewhere inMichigan. I would like to contact anyone who has any informationabout this family or who might know of any of their descendants. Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated.
