Sophie Dreffs, 81, died on Friday, Aug 21, at her home in Hamtramck.

Mrs. Dreffs was born in Mt. Pleasant, PA, on March 7, 1906. She lived in the Gaylord area for a short time before moving to Hamtramck. She was a member and past president of the Polish Legion of American Veterans. She was also an active member of St. Ladislaus Parish. She retired from the Bulldog Electric Co. after 20 years of employment.

Mrs. Dreffs was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley, in 1932, and her son, Stanley, in 1985. She was the daughter of Lawrence and Madeline Koscielniak. Mrs. Dreffs is survived by one son, Victor, and his wife, Mary of Warren; one daughter, Lillian, and her husband, Edmund Borowiak of Detroit; one daughter-in-law, Dolores Dreffs of Madison Heights; 12 grandchildren; two sisters, Christine Wolney of Detroit, and Martha Kwapis of East Detroit.

Funeral services were on Tuesday, Aug 25, at 10 a.m. from St. Mary Cathedral. Burial was in St. Mary Cemetery. Mrs. Dreffs was in state at the Nelson Funeral Home where friends called on Monday, Aug. 24 , from 1-9 p.m. A rosary/wake service was held on Monday at 8 p.m.}
