Myrtle A. Schilling, 87, of Lewiston, died Sunday, April 29, 2001 at Cass County Medical Care Facility in Cassopolis. She was born in Engadine, Mich., on May 23, 1913.

Myrtle was the wife of a Missouri Synod Lutheran minister, the late Rev. William Schilling, and had lived in several communities throughout Michigan, Illinois and Wisconsin before retiring in Lewiston 19 years ago.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 3 at 1 p.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lewiston, the Rev. Robert W. Butler, officiating. Burial will be in the Albert Township Cemetery in Lewiston.

Mrs. Schilling was preceded in death by her husband, William, on July 9, 1997. She was also preceded in death by her son, Paul, and her sister, Lillian Silas.

She is survived by her children William Schilling of Decatur, Mich., Lois Winslow of Dryden, Mich., Fred Schilling of Newark, N.J, Alvin Schilling of Gainesville, Fla., and Timothy Schillng of Parker, Colo.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ethel Lindgren of Tennessee.

Visitation will be held at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of services. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethesda Lutheran Home in Appleton, Wis., through the Nelson Funeral Home.
