Cemeteries Ottawa County, Michigan
EXPLANATION: The following is an explanation of the terms - permit ground, old permit ground and potters field. The 'potters field' is a place of burial for those who are unable to pay for a grave. The permit ground and old permit ground is the same. A person paid $1.00 for the grave. It didn't necessarily mean that they were poor but they could have a gravesite for $1.00. The burial sites were usually in the same area for the potters field and the permits. A gravestone could be put on the gravesite.
