Nathaniel B. Abbey

Nathaniel B. Abbey was born in Ohio, October 21, 1837 and departed this life on October 30, 1918, aged eighty-one years, and nine days, after an illness of over two weeks.

After serving his country in the Civil War, he was married to Miss Isavilla Moore, and they settled in Eaton Rapids Township, Eaton County, Michigan, where they lived for a number of years. In April 1895, he, with his family, moved to Lamont, Michigan, where he resided at the time of his death. He leaves, besides his widow, two children, Mrs. E. F. Smead, of Allendale, and Harvey Abbey, of Lamont., and one brother in Detroit, Minn, three sisters, and a large circle of friends to mourn their loss.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the residence, conducted by Rev. J. A. De Graff, of Grand Rapids, and the remains were taken to Allendale for interment.

(Mr. Abbey served in the 1st Michigan Infantry during the Civil War.)
