Obituary of Stephen G. Owens

Stephen G. Owens was born in Dundee, Monroe County, Michigan, 7 Feb 1835 and died 20 Mar 1907 at the age of 72 years, 1 month and 13 days.
He was married to Matilda M. Rosegrant on 15 March 1857. To this union were born two children, Mrs. Ida Austin, of Leroy, and Ira Owens, who died 6 Feb 1905.
He enlisted in the first Michigan engineers and served three years. He came to Polkton in 1865, and settled on a farm where his companion died 22 April 1887.
15 April 1892 he was marred to Nancy Bunnell, who died 25 Nov 1894.
He was again married to Maria S. Parmenter, 14 Nov 1898, who has been a true and
faithful companion thru all his affliction. They lived on the farm until about
one year ago, when they sold the place and moved to Coopersville, where they
lived until the time of his death.
He leaves besides his wife, one daughter, two brothers, and one sister.
