Henry Plant

H. E. Plant, a pioneer resident of Crockery Township and the last surviving member of the Grand Army of the Republic Post at Nunica, passed away Thursday, April 16th at the ripe old age of 84 years. Mr. Plant, always active and able to be about, has been in failing health this winter and the end has been expected for some time.

At the Battle of Bentonville he saved the colors of the regiment from the Confederates and for this deed was presented a medal of bravery. After the war he came back to the county and continued his farm in Crockery.
