Van Allsburg, Engleburt , Coopersville Observer, February 13, 1925

Engleburt Van Allsburg aged 80 years, (one of the oldest settlers of Polkton Township) passed away at his home, near Coopersville, Wednesday, February 4, 1925.

Mr. Van Allsburg was born November 17, 1844, in a little town named Halle, in Gelderland, a province of Netherlands.

In 1854 when he was 9 years of age, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Art Van Allsburg, came to America, settling at Mill Point, now called Spring Lake. Two and one-half years later the family bought a tract of timber land two miles south of Coopersville which was then a dense forest.

He was married to Leintje Ludolphe April 30, 1864. To this union eleven children were born. Mrs. Van Allsburg passed away August 14, 1889.

He was married May 19, 1910 to Miss Jennie Mulder, who remains to mourn his loss with his children, Mrs. John Kraai, Cornelius, Garett, Henry and Esther of Muskegon; Mrs. George Wait of Spring Lake ; John E. of North East Pennsylvania; Art and Burt of Charlevoix; Mrs. Hugh Jennings of Lansing; and his sister Mrs. Stuart Bolhuis and a host of relatives and friends; besides 14 grand children and 14 great-grandchildren; he had one daughter who passed away August 11, 1919, Mrs. John A. Timmer.

The funeral services were held at the home Friday afternoon, February 6. Interment was made at Lamont, Rev. H. Hoffs of the Reformed Church officiated.
